English to Indonesian Interpreters

Interpreting services from Indonesian to English are essential for facilitating real-time communication in settings like business meetings, conferences, and legal proceedings. Unlike translators who work with written text, interpreters focus on spoken or signed language, ensuring that participants who speak different languages can communicate effectively.

There are different types of Indonesian interpreting, including simultaneous, consecutive, and over-the-phone or video remote interpreting, each suited to specific situations. Skilled Indonesian interpreters must be fluent in both languages, quick, accurate, and maintain confidentiality, making them invaluable in bridging language gaps.

Indonesian Interpreting services are typically billed on an hourly or daily basis, depending on the length and nature of the assignment. These services are crucial for ensuring clear and accurate communication in various professional and personal contexts - see: English to Indonesian Interpreting

More about the Indonesian Language

History of Indonesian

Indonesian, also known as Bahasa Indonesia, is actually a standardised version of the Malay language. It was declared the official language of Indonesia in 1945, after becoming independent, although nationalists had already considered it the national language since 1928. The language is influenced by several languages such as Dutch, Arabic, Portuguese and English.

Native Speakers

More than 270 million people in Indonesia speak Indonesian. However, only 50 million of these speak it as their first language since the majority speak languages such as Sundanese, Balinese and Javanese. The Indonesians use Bahasa Indonesia when it comes to education, government, media etc. and then speak their native languages at home.

Indonesian Writing

The Latin alphabet is used for Indonesian. Words are pronounced as they are written i.e. the system is phonetic. Bahasa Indonesia does not have any tones (like Chinese has) and has extremely consistent spelling unlike English!
